Local DNS hosts setup for Windows servers resolve hostnames

DNS : domain name system usually does resolve the IP address with associated domain with the help of global DNS servers. for example 8.8.8.8 is an google DNS address which is resolve most number of IP and domain names forward lookup as well reverse lookup

here we going to see an example of local system without accessing outside DNS the server or system first going to check an local server itself that is called hosts were when hit enter any IP or domains

the host entry must present all servers whether windows or Linux

Windows location : c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

once updated the IP and associated domain names in local hosts files. whenever you enter the domain name on your server first it will go an check your local hosts file if the ip or domain presents then it will respond back to you.

this is how local DNS works.

For Linux /etc/hosts
